SUMMARY: The weather will be hot this weekend, with mid-90s by Friday. Invest 90L is causing heavy rain in Florida and will move into the Western Atlantic, away from the Eastern Seaboard, by the weekend. Early next week, high pressure will shift, drawing tropical moisture into the Gulf Coast. Rain chances increase for Southeastern Louisiana and South Mississippi from Sunday to Tuesday, potentially bringing up to 3-5 inches of rain. Locally, today and tomorrow will be less humid with stray showers, mainly near the coast. By Friday, humidity and temperatures rise, peaking in the mid to upper 90s. Weekend plans look dry but stay hydrated and prepared for rain next week.
Invest 90 continues to track into Florida bringing with it heavy rain to south/central Florida. It will move into the Atlantic Ocean in the next couple of days where it has a low chance of becoming a tropical depression. It will stay in the Atlantic Ocean through early next week and is not a threat to the East Coast.
The upper high near SE LA and S MS is gradually shifting east this weekend. That will allow another area of tropical moisture to enter the Gulf of Mexico from the Caribbean Sea this weekend. Eventually, this tropical moisture will approach Texas and Louisiana by late Sunday, lasting into early next week. It does appear the upper high pressure will begin to shift west Monday/Tuesday pushing the majority of the deep tropical moisture towards Texas and Mexico. That means we still likely see scattered storms locally but perhaps miss the worst of the heavy rain. There is still uncertainty in the forecast, so check back for updates.
