PhenGold is seen as the newest weight loss supplement to hit the market, however, it’s actually an upgraded version of a former weight loss supplement – PhenQ.

In contrast to that supplement, PhenGold contains a wider variety of natural ingredients, and its capsules are made from hypromellose, a type of cellulose material derived from softwood trees, mainly pine and spruce trees that are grown and harvested from plantations in the southeastern United States.

PhenQ, on the other hand, contained capsules made from gelatin, which means that PhenGold is a product that is currently suitable for both vegetarians and vegans.

Nevertheless, PhenGold joins a long list of supplements that promise consumers a solution to burn fat from their bodies, so what is it that actually sets them apart from other brands?

Well, for starters, they don’t have proprietary blends where the dosage of each ingredient is hidden, which allows people like you and me to determine whether the supplement may, in fact, work from a scientific perspective.

In this article, we’re going to dive a bit deeper into what PhenGold is, what it provides, and whether or not it’s a supplement that you should invest in to help you lose weight.

Phengold Review | Is It REALLY Worth It? (1)

Main Takeaways

  • PhenGold has a bunch of ingredients, and many of them come from nature. Some of these ingredients are in amounts that could be helpful, but a couple like black pepper and DMAE need more science to prove they work.
  • Additionally, there are no widely reported adverse side effects associated with the product, with the exception of those that may be related to caffeine consumption. This might be a relevant factor if you’re sensitive to caffeine.
  • Finally, the price tag might make your wallet wince as it’s not exactly budget-friendly, and this could be a significant drawback. However, there’s a silver lining: if you try it and don’t see the results you were hoping for, the company offers a money-back guarantee.

Our Favorite Fat Burner

What is PhenGold?

PhenGold is a fat-burning weight loss supplement that contains natural ingredients that some researchers claim to trigger certain metabolic events and other reactions in the body.

In other words, certain ingredients have the ability to increase the body’s metabolic rate, which means that you’re able to increase the average number of calories your burn.

Other ingredients can provide you with more energy, and thus increase your performance in a workout, which translates into more calories burned.

There are also ingredients that demonstrate an effect on suppressing hunger cravings, which would naturally keep you from eating unnecessary calories from snacking.

However, it’s important to note, that some ingredients used in PhenGold and the wider majority of fat-burning supplements were only subject to preliminary research. The benefits put forth by researchers are based on the results they’ve observed in studies with a less significant sample size, which means more evidence is necessary to prove whether a certain ingredient generates a specific effect.

In hindsight, people who have bought PhenGold and reviewed it, do mention that the supplement provides them with several benefits. Some point out that they feel reinvigorated, while others feel less appetite.

How Does PhenGold Work?

The combination of ingredients used to make PhenGold works together to trigger certain processes in the body that discourage fat production in the body.

The goal is to reduce the weight derived from fat built-up and release the excess water retained by the body.

PhenGold works in five different ways to help the body lose weight. These include:

  • Burning fat –In theory, ingredients like green tea (which contains caffeine) and cayenne pepper (which contains capsicum and peperine) may work together to accelerate fat burning by speeding up your metabolism and thermogenic rates, helping you burn more calories in a workout.
  • Halting fat production –The less fat you have stored, the harder it is for your body to accumulate it, and ingredients like l-theanine and cayenne pepper halt fat production by boosting your metabolism, and preventing the formation of new fat cells.
  • Suppressing your appetite –If you want to increase weight loss, you have to necessarily decrease your intake of calories. PhenGold contains vitamin B6 and ingredients rich in caffeine, which help reduce cravings for carbs and sugars, which is typically what you find in snacks.
  • Boosting your energy –A restrictive diet is known to cause a decrease in energy and thus have you experience more fatigue. However, to counteract that, PhenGold comes with ingredients that help boost your energy, improve your physical performance, and keep you focused, although it’s important to keep in mind that these effects are not long-lasting.
  • Enhancing your mood –The process of losing weight and having more restrictions on what you eat can cause anxiety, mild depression, and mood swings. For that reason, ingredients like l-theanine and l-tyrosine help alleviate such feelings by helping reduce stress, anxiety, and increasing your focus and alertness.

Ingredients in PhenGold

Phengold Review | Is It REALLY Worth It? (2)

The manufacturer behind Phenold took the time to develop a formula that is fully natural, and that it contains well-researched ingredients available in the right amounts.

A quick glance at the supplement facts and you’ll see the following ingredients:

Green Tea (500 mg)

Tea leaves contain many beneficial compounds, namely caffeine.

Caffeine is a compound that is associated with fat-burning effects, and increasing exercise performance in different studies. 1, 2 However, green tea contains 5 times less caffeine compared to regular coffee.

Green tea is rich in antioxidants, so they it adds a lot of antioxidants to your bloodstream.

More importantly, a great number of those antioxidants are catechins. These are rich in a substance called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which is shown to boost metabolism. 3

An increase in your metabolic rate ensures that you burn more calories, even when you’re sleeping.

L-Theanine (250 mg)

L-theanine is often presented as a cognitive compound because its benefit occur predominantly within the central nervous system (CNS).

However, those neural effects seem to provide some advantages for athletes and people who exercise.

Some researchers believe that L-theanine enhances alpha brainwave frequencies across your brain activity, which is associated with calm, creative, meditative thinking.

This can be tied to weight loss in the sense that by reducing the amount of chronic stress you feel, there may be a positive effect on appetite regulation. 5, 6

Appetite diminishes with acute stress, but chronic stress amplifies appetite to an excessive degree. This form of stress is most prevalent in our society.

L-Tyrosine (300 mg)

In terms of increasing dopamine and adrenaline, L-tyrosine doesn’t seem to have much evidence behind it.

However, some studies have pointed out that in stressful situations where noradrenaline exerts a protective effect, supplying l-tyrosine appears to provide a safety buffer that may help prolong the anti-stress effects of catecholamines by delaying their depletion. These effects were noted on a relatively high dose of 150 mg. 7

Improvements on memory and attention during stressful situations have been found, but they don’t seem to be significant or reliable.

Rhodiola Rosea (250 mg)

Rhodiola Rosea is quite popular for its adaptogen properties, or ability to reduce fatigue and exhaustion in high-stress situations. In fact, the evidence appears to be significant.

Numerous studies suggest that rhodiola rosea has meaningful effects, particularly in people that suffer from stress and anxiety. 8 However, there isn’t certainty on whether those effects extend to exercise.

Due to the decrease in fatigue, research suggests that taking rhodiola rosea can improve various measures of cognitive function. 9

Caffeine Anhydrous (250 mg)

Caffeine is a powerful stimulant, and in a supplement like PhenGold, it’s used to improve physical strength and endurance. 10, 11 It’s also classified as a nootropic because it can provide mental stimulation.

Caffeine has an antagonistic mechanism to adenosine receptors, which cause sedation and relaxation. Taking caffeine prevents this mechanism from occurring, and promotes alertness and wakefulness.

However, it’s important to point out that habitual intake of caffeine leads to a tolerance built-up, which means the effects of caffeine may be diminished, and taking more caffeine will not help overcome it.

Cayenne Pepper (200 mg)

Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin and carotenoids, which may boost metabolism, and reduce appetite.

While capsaicin may have an effect on boosting metabolism, the evidence available suggests that the effect is small and that individuals may easily build tolerance for it. 12, 13

However, there are many studies showing that the capsaicin in cayenne peppers helps reduce hunger. 14, 15, 16, 17

In other words, there is sufficient evidence that this ingredient helps with weight loss.

DMAE Bitartrate (150 mg)

DMAE is known as a mind health compound, and it may help reduce the built-up of something called the “age pigment”, which impairs cognitive function and is associated with age-related cognitive decline. 18

In addition, it can also increase the levels of acetylcholine, a compound associated with memory.

However, I have to point out that the level of evidence is not yet significant to fully confirm those effects.

Green Coffee Extract (100 mg)

Green coffee extract is an ingredient that is gaining popularity, and in fat-supplements, there are many companies that have decided to use it.

According to the level of evidence available, its effects on weight loss don’t seem to be very significant.

An intake of green coffee extract appears to have a minimal effect on overweight and obese individuals, but the degree of weight reduction is unreliable. 19 Additionally, it may benefit people with poor vascular function or high blood pressure, but the effects don’t seem to be as potent as other ingredients. 20, 21

Black Pepper (5 mg)

Black pepper is known to contain piperine, a molecule that doesn’t seem to offer any considerable or reliable benefits despite the various claims by manufacturers.

However, it does seem to have an effect on increase the absorption rates of other supplements/ingredients, and is especially good at increasing curcumin’s bioavailability. 22

There is a process in the liver called glucuronidation, which attaches a molecule to drugs to signal for their urinary excretion, sometimes inhibiting all uptake and rendering supplements useless.

Vitamins B3, B6, and B12

PhenGold contains plenty of vitamin B12 (which is good news for vegans), but it also contains niacin (vitamin b3) and pyridoxine (vitamin b6), which, on one hand, may promote the conversion of food into energy (opposed to storing it as fat), and also play a role in regulating metabolism.

However, there is no evidence suggesting that taking these vitamins as supplements will enhance these effects.

Bottom line: Based on the ingredients and dosages used, PhenGold does seem to be effective in providing many of the benefits it claims. However, it’s important to note that some of the ingredients require more evidence.

Pros & Cons

Based on the ingredients and dosages, this supplement doesn’t seem like a hoax, and may actually give you an edge, particularly in the energy department.

However, that doesn’t mean that the supplement is without imperfections.

Here are the pros:

  • The supplement does seem to contain effective ingredients, available in effective dosages;
  • The company behind does seem to be legitimate;
  • It’s mostly made with natural ingredients, so you won’t find any artificial crap with potential long-term effects;
  • It has a money-back guarantee, which means you can ask for a refund if you don’t like it;
  • It’s without animal ingredients, which will certainly make the vegan population happy;
  • There isn’t a report of negative side effects, other than the ones associated with caffeine consumption.

Here are the cons:

  • Despite the validity of the majority of ingredients, PhenGold still has ingredients like black pepper and DMAE that need more evidence before its claims can be made legitimate;
  • While effective, this supplement is not affordable for most people, particularly if you’re trying to bring your costs down.

If you were solely going to make a decision based on the aforementioned advantages and disadvantages, then I’d say that PhenGold can be quite useful.

Does It Cause Side Effects?

Phengold Review | Is It REALLY Worth It? (3)

According to reviews on the supplement, I wasn’t able to find anything proving the unsafety of consuming this products, in fact, what I found was the contrary.

If we just look at the ingredients in the product, there doesn’t seem to be anything that would potentially dire side effects, whether it be short or long-term. Obviously, the only exceptions being children and pregnant women.

In any case, I would recommend that you check the label to find anything that you may be allergic to, but there’s a good chance that isn’t the case.

Overall, this supplement should be safe for most people.

Where Can You Buy PhenGold?

Unfortunately, this is not one of those supplements where you will find on Amazon, so you have to visit their official website and purchase it there.

There are many reports of fake supplements, but that doesn’t appear to be the case with PhenGold, especially when we look at how popular the supplement is, particularly when it comes to the number of searches online.

PhenGold is also available in bulk, which means you can get a steeper discount for buying more than one month’s supply. In fact, if you purchase two supplements, you get a third one for free. And if you purchase three supplements, you get a fourth and a fifth free of charge.

If you’re interested in purchasing PhenGold, visit their official website.

PhenGold: Legit or a Scam?

From what I have analyzed, PhenGold appears to be a very legitimate supplement, including for individuals with dietary restrictions like vegetarians and vegans.

The ingredients within the supplement are backed by a solid body of scientific evidence, save a few, and in terms of weight loss, PhenGold does seem to have significant effects on metabolic rate and appetite reduction, which are important factors for anyone that is attempting to burn fat and lose weight.

With that being said, I hope this article has been helpful, and that you can now make a logical decision on whether PhenGold is a supplement that you should invest in.
